Proto Carbon is a project to break down the boundary between the virtual world of the video game and the real space where the virtual world is placed. In the two workshops, “Future Fossil Factory”, participants took turns playing the role of “amateur god” and “archaeologist”, making fossils out of clay and writing stories. Fossils and narratives collected in this way form an independent world in virtual reality created with a game engine. The artificial intelligence constantly wandering around this space becomes another participant in the work as an explorer of the universe.
