Waveshifter is a computer game, a radio play and an audio game. The best term would be an "interactive radio play". The course of the game lasts eleven minutes. Eight characters move through and around a villa. The player is a materialless ghost who sits "in the ears" of a character and can move his/her head freely with the mouse. The characters' paths through the story, the spoken conversations and the actions cannot be influenced. In the course of several repetitions of the eleven-minute game loop, it is possible to unlock the characters in order to "occupy" them, i.e. to hear through them, to experience what they experience or hear. By interacting with (sounding) objects, it is possible to leave the time of the game loop and enter musical worlds that offer rewards upon successful completion, such as unlocking characters. The aim of the game is to find out one’s name. Once you have found a "name card", you can not only jump back to the beginning, but also continue playing to the séance held by the characters. Only there can I say my name and free myself. Then the game is won.
