We are Independent Game Developers Guild, IGDG. This game was produced as part of a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for 2023 IGDGF, indie game festival by IGDG, which will be held on Feb. 18 and 19 in Seoul, South Korea. This is a detail of the concept of People’s Game. — Through this event, we would like to propose a new concept and genre called ‘People’s Game’. We make vote for backers with listing keywords that could be the subject of the game, and developers who participate in the exhibition will produce and display 5 to 10 minutes of short game according to the keywords during the two days of the exhibition. For example, if the keywords "Insect Fly," "At Gwanghwamun," "Love," and "Fail" are selected by vote, the development of the game will be completed with that concept. It’s an innovative genre that starts with the simple wishes and imagination of game fans or ordinary people, not developers, and goes against the traditional game-making methods that IGDG members make into games. If vernacular design is a spontaneous design form that starts with ordinary people, wouldn’t it be possible to create something like a vernacular game through a platform called funding, a little bit of artificiality? Video games are in the first stages of a long history of it, and it’s still too early to solidify. A world where game development is not necessarily exclusive to experts will eventually come. Just as anyone can draw and write with a pen, the day will come when the AI development and the advancement of development programs will naturally melt into a part of our culture and life that anyone can easily access. And I want to create that era right now through our event and people’s game. We will advance the time when the future is approaching. I would appreciate it if you could backer our event and be part of the people who create the future. Additionally, the game developed at the event site is created by the sponsor’s vote, but if you choose the funding option of 1800$, the best sponsor option, you can see the game that made by your ‘hope’. Games for propose, games to give as gifts to parents, games to give to children, games to celebrate friendship with friends, games that you just want to enjoy alone, anything is fine. Now games are clearly our ‘culture’ and part of our ‘life’. I’d like to show you that we can start with your wishes and create more possibilities to match those changes of the times. — And we produced People’s Game with the theme that 1800$ backer’s hope [ The story of a man who never gives up against all odds ], and [ What will be, will be ] is the first People’s Game in the world.
